"Dues to the Damned"

Films: Seventh Moon (2008)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Forest

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: Let's take a break from American, Christian-based demons for a time, and head to the East to celebrate a usually benign get-together. Now let's see what happens when it all goes wrong.

History: Each year, the Chinese folk celebrate the Hungry Ghost festival, where the beings of the underworld walk amongst the living. Unfortunately, at least for this particular Chinese town, that means lining the streets with edible animals and bolting their doors lest the demons get them. But the only thing keeping the demons from taking one of the villagers is if the people serve them outsiders. And luckily, a couple of them has just arrived...

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Only one out of two visitors survive to the end of the night, and once the sun comes up, the demons dissipate.

Powers/Abilities: Have the ability to, through ritual, turn victims into one of them.

Weakness: Cannot live in the mortal realm once the moon starts setting.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-In essence, you're being stalked by a large pack of pale humanoid cannibals. They don't look particularly strong, but that's precisely why they kill in numbers.

Trivia: -The Hungry Ghost festival does NOT involve human ritual sacrifice to demons. But it does revolve around the concept that people who died under very unfortunate circumstances will become spirits driven by desire. Hence, the festival is meant to placate them with simple food offerings.

-This film was directed by Eduardo Sanchez, who gained praise for directing "The Blair Witch Project", and incorporated the same style here for the most part.
